July 2015
Hot, humid and hazy!  Those are the words for July in Ohio.  As the month started we thought the rain would never end.  It stopped and started with regularity, and at the end of the
month the Toledo area had endured more than twice it's normal rainfall.  The mosquitoes are loving it!  Our campground is built on sandy soil but it often rained so hard we had
lakes, rivers and puddles until the water could be absorbed.  What a mess!

We did find some days of sunshine and comfortable temperatures.  Our Independence Day celebration was one of the sunny days and we enjoyed a BBQ with our friends, Kathy
and Dennie and made our annual visit to the Waterville Village Fireworks.  It so happened that our mutual friends Bonnie and Don, from Las Vegas were also in town visiting family
so on the next day we had another great dinner and visit.  We caught up with Bonnie and Don once again later in the month, meeting them at Camping World while their rig was in
for service.

There was a short mini-family reunion in mid-month when our daughter Ann and granddaughter Merrick passed through Ohio and Michigan on their way to visit our son-in-law's
family.  We gathered at Mary's Mom's place in Jackson, MI where Mary's step-sister Jill also joined us for lunch before Ann and Merrick took off for more adventures.  We had a
couple more dinners and some domino games with friends Kathy and Dennie before we took them to the airport for a flight to San Diego after their newest grandchild made a
surprise arrival through adoption.

Other "day trips" took us to Bowling Green for a good visit with Tom's sister Judy and her husband, Ron; to the Detroit area for a fun dinner with our son and daughter-in-law, Reid
and Kathleen and to Jackson, MI for visits with Mary's mom.  Long-time RV buddies Rich and Diane were passing through the Toledo area so that called for another dinner out and
a great visit as well.

Due to scheduling conflicts and weather delays affecting campground maintenance, we have spent the entire month in a site with only water and electric hook-ups.  It's been a
challenge rationing our water usage and laundromat trips, but we have managed.  We think things will ease up and we'll be moving for the second half of our stay.  The
campground has been busier this year than in the past and we have seen some interesting rigs come and go.  We've had a few medical appointments this month and have hopes
of a little more free time coming in August to get out and do a few more interesting things.

We're glad we don't have to maneuver this unit.  It left and
returned to a nearby site three nights in a row.

July 2015
We had settled into a spot at Big Sandy Campground near Toledo at the end of June.  Thanks to bad weather and a few other issues we were not able to get into "our" full
hook-up site, but we did have 50-amp electric and water and the manager came with the 'honey wagon' on a regular basis.  The bad weather continued throughout the month
with 'off and on' storms bringing the Toledo area over twice the normal rainfall for that time period.  We did get a break for Independence day...and enjoyed a BBQ dinner with
our friends Kathy and Dennie followed by the annual fireworks in Waterville.  Our mutual friends, Bonnie and Don were in town from Las Vegas in their RV and we had a fun
get-together with them the following evening.
The Waterville Fireworks have become and annual tradition for us.
We had a great visit with Dennie and Kathy, Bonnie and Don,
comparing RV adventures.
Getting together with friends and family is our main social activity while in the Toledo area, so there were visits and meals shared with Tom's sister Judy and her husband, Ron;
good friends Dick and Liz and more visits with Bonnie and Don and Kathy and Dennie.   Mid-month our daughter Ann and granddaughter Merrick joined us for a visit with
Mary's mother in Jackson, MI.  They were on their way to visit our son-in-law's family in Ohio.  We made a few trips to the Detroit area to meet our son and daughter-in-law for
dinner as well.  We managed to get in a few challenges with dominoes before Kathy and Dennie headed to California after getting the news that a new grandchild had made a
surprise arrival through adoption.
Mary's Mom, Mary, step-sister Jill, Ann and Merrick outnumbered
Tom at the lunch table that day.
Planniing strategy with the dominoes!

Its always interesting to see the different rigs that pull into a campground.  One of our recent neighbors was pulling a really, really, long "5th Wheel"  The front had living
quarters.  Inside the door in the middle was a workshop of some kind, but we did not see what was in the back.  The rig came and went for three nights in a row.

Mary took some time one afternoon to tour the "Kaleidoscope of Quilts" put on by the Glass City Quilt Commision.  There's nothing like visiting such an exhibition to make
one feel their own talents are few.

Rich and Diane are fellow RVers whose path has crossed ours many times over the last 15 years.  We were pleased that they decied to stop in the Toledo area for a night
and, as always, we had a fun meal and visit.
We're glad we didn't have to maneuver this rig!
A lot of time and patience won the creator of this
quilt a blue ribbon at the quilt show.
Rich and Diane stopped by Toledo on their way to Indiana.
We've been dealing with some medical appointments and some really rainy weather this month, and hope to
get out and enjoy more free time soon.
