November 2018
Its been a pretty quiet month for us here in Arizona...but we're not complaining!  Population in the park and in town has picked up considerably...where did all this traffic come
from?  But we have been happy to see some of our friends returning and catching up on everything we've all been up to.  We're still working our way into what is usually our
winter routine.  Tom has found the poker room filling up early in the evenings and the sewing ladies have had to go in search of extra chairs at their weekly guild meetings.
This all makes for good times.  We have continued getting together with some of our summer groups for various card games. We've been keeping a pretty regular schedule
with Physical Therapy appointments and trips to the park Fitness Center and in between we've checked several doctor's appointments off our list.
We've attended a few events over the last several weeks....and as usual they seem to center around a meal.  We were proud to participate in the annual Veteran's Breakfast
honoring Tom and many other park residents who have served in the military.  On Tuesday mornings we usually join quite a large group for Coffee and Doughnuts and hear
announcements of upcoming events from the park activity staff.  Mid-month the park held it's usual "Welcome Home" party...complete with live music and dancing in the park.
(We forgot to take any photos that day)               On Thanksgiving Day we gathered with a group of about 30 friends for a potluck/traditional meal.  It was a little chilly this year,
but the food was tasty as always.  Mary's Quilting and Sewing Guild held one of their "Quilt Till You Wilt" nights.  About 50 ladies started sewing with 2-1/2" strips of fabric
around 4:00.  And by 8:00 they'd had dinner, some door prize drawings, lots of fun, and completed about a dozen quilt tops that will be donated to local children's charities and
to deserving veterans.
The month of November started off with a gorgeous sunset.
All branches of the US Military were represented
at our Veteran's Breakfast.
Our table-mates were wearing sweaters by the time
our dinner ended on Thanksgiving.
Busy bees....everyone had an assignment for the quilt-making projects.
The next morning all the quilt-tops were showed off at
the weekly guild meeting.
Mary's year-long project finally made it to "Show and Tell" at a guild
meeting and is now on our king-sized bed.
The weather has cooled off and we've had a few cloudy days - but boy do they make
for more beautiful sunsets.
Our main gate and entrance road is lined all season with lighted palm trees.
We're gearing up for the Christmas season and looking forward to time
with family.  Here's wishing all of you Happy Holidays as well.
