November 2019
"Winter Activities" have started.  Mary and some of the neighbors head to Bingo on Monday nights.  We head up to the ballroom on Tuesday mornings for coffee and donuts
and announcements from the management.  Our weekly golf dates are back in session...Tom and the guys play at the municipal course and Mary and the ladies play here in
the park.  Our old RV neighborhood gang held their monthly dinner and game night.  There was a Health Fair in the ballroom with many community organizations highlighting
their services.  And we continue our regular card groups.
On Veterans Day we attended a delicious breakfast here in the park.  A local Veterans group had an honor guard and presented pins to all the Veterans.  The next day Mary
had been recruited to teach a class in the sewing room...helping the ladies create a Christmas table runner.  Another Quilt Till You Wilt evening was held in the sewing room
and once again the ladies worked hard at creating community and veterans quilts.
Towards the end of November the park held its "Welcome Back" party.  We had gone 50+ days with no rain and a couple days before the party we had a torrential rain storm.
Our park (and the golf course) were flooded, so the party was held in the parking lots near our main buildings.  It still was a great time and a chance to see lots of familiar
friendly faces.         The "Grey Cup" is the Canadian version of the Super Bowl.  Our Canadian friends invited us to a party to watch the game and enjoy a chili supper.  We had
a tasty dinner, good times and watched the Winnipeg Blue Bombers win over the Hamilton Wild Cats.  (You know those teams, right? )
Thanksgiving dinner was our last big event for November.  We shared our feast with about 35 people at the newest community building here in the park.  Quite often we have
enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner outdoors, but as we have gotten older we are less tolerant of cooler days.  We were really happy that this year we had reserved an indoor
space for our group as we had another torrential rainstorm the day before and the holiday itself was dreary and damp. We had a fantastic meal and a chance to visit with many
friends.   Later that night the entire State of Arizona had a great winter storm with snow, rain and high winds all over the place.  In our area there were many trees down and
things moved around....our grill took a ride across the patio.
No winners in this photo!
We didn't do well at "Left-Right-Center" either!
All branches of the military were represented at our Veterans' breakfast.
Our table was Army and Air Force.
An "Honor Quilt" top completed
A "Community Quilt" completed.
Our good friends from Ohio, Dick and Liz, stopped in one Saturday while in Arizona.  It was a game day, so we cheered on the Ohio State Buckeyes while we ate lunch and
caught up on our adventures since we saw them last in June.  They left Arizona just in time for a nice snow storm back in Ohio.  We've had lots of white stuff here, too.  It's
cotton harvest time and the "white stuff" has been flying around.
Its always smiles and laughs when we get together with Dick and Liz!
Arizona's kind of "white stuff"....no shoveling
required!
For a little diversion one day we rode with our friends Steve and Sally out to the Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino.  We had lunch and some fun at the slots and Blackjack table.  One of
the local grocery chains was giving out free gift cards, so there were lots of people in the casino that day.  It didn't take us long to head back home.
We enjoyed a social hour before our holiday
dinner at the new community center.
Steve and Tom were looking for the reindeer
while Sally and Mary hopped in the sleigh in the
lobby at Harrah's.
We had our choice of about 10 different food truck serving at our "Welcome Back" party.
We're still getting some beautiful sunsets, and hope our good weather
continues through the holidays.
